I was always interested in having an outfit to wear when we went riding in our Model A. The first dress is pictured above.
The hat I am wearing is what started this whole deal. A friend spotted it in a store and talked me into buying it saying, we'll make a dress to go with it. Research in the library found the dress. Knowing nothing about '28-'30 dress making we winged it. The side panels should have been inset, there is a zipper which should not exist. As to the rest of the ensemble, the shoes are also new and the gloves and purse are original from 1930. It wouldn't win any prizes in a fashion competition but I loved and wore it often!!

1931 ORIGINAL EVENING GOWN
My first Model A Restorer's Club National Meet, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I was unsure what to wear so I brought along and wore nothing but clothing from the 1928 thru 1931 fashion era. Some was original and some was reproduction while others were a mixture of both. I had not planned to enter the fashion judging. I was talked into it and ended up taking first place.

The tennis shoes and blouse are modern. The knickers, socks and straw driving hat are all original from 1929. The knickers had never been worn before and still had the $1.98 price tag still on them.

1931 REPRODUCTION AFTERNOON DRESS
As luck would have it I found over 300 original patterns from 1928 through 1931. I then began researching, collecting and wearing in earnest.
